Any way to get attendant to stop when picking up an extension?

We have a KX-TA824 with a KX-TVA50.

We are a small office and sometimes get stuck on a call while another line is ringing. If we get off that call and pick up the line after the attendant has taking the call - it won't stop. It goes thru the entire menu, then will start again if no selections are made.

I've searched and searched, but this little thing has completely escaped me.

How do I program the attendant to drop out if we pick up the line?

are you saying you can hear the message or you just cant get the line because the AA has picked it up
 
I can pick up the line - it's just that the attendant keeps going. So it is impossible to have a conversation with the voice mail yabbering away.

I want the attendant to stop and drop out of the call like every other answering machine in the world does

 
If the voicemail was installed correctly you should not be able to take the line from it by pressing the line, the caller should have to select something or ring to the system if no digits were pressed.

for this reason there is no way to stop the aa if you pickup a call after it has answered and has not processed the call first

if the AA has answered is the line key red?

AA picks up line. Line key is red.
We try to intercept call
AA keeps going, then repeats if no selection is made.

Is there any way to set up AA to not repeat or to drop out once we select the CO?

 
Let me just add that once we pick up the line - we can talk with the caller, we just have the AA talking also
 
You can try #9 (that's is POUND 9)

That is the Exit Code when you are in the Voice Mail System

I am not sure if it will work or not.

 
it sounds like you have override allowed on the lines. this would suggest that the AA is fitted ok, but you are allowed to barge into the call.
if the AA answers you should let the call go through the process of routing the call and not barge in on it.
You won't be able to stop it as its job is to handle the call until it passes it off.

You could set an option in the attendant like 8 or 9 and tell it to exit, then press that key and it will hang up

How and were would I do that?

 
you will need the programming tool and program the unit. who installed it for you, can they come back and sort it
 
I installed the unit. I have the programming tool (software)

If I knew how to do it, I wouldn't be on this forum


 
have you programmed the ports 07-08 or 15-16 to be voicemail ports on the system
have you programmed the tva to connect as apits integration.

As your comment ("if I knew how to do it") it would be working now :)
 
Yes... The system is up and running, has been for over two years. Everything works, I just want to be able to stop the damn attendant when I pick up a line.

You make me think I'm talking to some guy reading a script at Earthlink, "Have I tried resetting the modem?"

 
Just to let you know I am a certified Panasonic engineer with 25 years experience and to help you I needed to know how it is setup. It is called fault finding as the way your unit is setup is not correct

Anyway I don't waste my time helping people who don't listen to advice. You say it is working but allows you to pickup the line and be on the call at the same time. Sorry but in my book that is not working properly

By the way switching this one on and off won't work. Hope you work it out
