Looking for help to document a big 850 PO Mercator Map. Any suggestion. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "document". You can put comments in every rule to explain why it was written, etc., and you can export the map to a file (in later versions) and use that as a document.

Document the 850 map into some form of word or html document. Thanks for asking!!

There is a product out there called AFFINITY. It is a bit complicated to install but it's worth it. I put all my mercator
documentation in there. I also used it for just about any documentation like cobol, rpg, C, java, sqr, vb etc.

The reason why I bought it? VERSION control....and the distribution of objects to different platforms.

I'm facing couple of problems .I'm just wondering if anybody can help me

1. the "SOURCE NOT AVAILABLE" fantam Error message even though it writes the data to the database.

2."( -99999 ) Adapter not found " even though it writes the data to the tables.

3."Disk write error".

4."PUT adapter failed" .

all those errors are occuring ocassionally eventhough they are running sucessfully on the server every day.

Turn on audit log to see which source is not available if there is more than one input card.
Enable launcher.txt.
Put a VALID/FAIL around the PUT statement.

Open issue with Ascential support.

What is the source of the input? FTP?

If it is Unix env you get the -99999 for permission issues

Since you are getting the disk write error also check for the permissions of the output folders to where the data is being written.

Also just check if the user you are running belongs to the mercator group (only if it is unix env)!! Thx!

Since the reported problem is intermittant, it would not be permissions. Most likely in the resource manager area. We would need the version of DS TX and OS version, and other environmental info. Then we would turn on various debug options in the .ini and the map.

We also need to know if all these errors are from one map or various in the system.

I have mercator 6.7.1 version .
Eventserver running on windows NT.
1.Fantam error is happening only for a particular type of file.
2.Source of the file is Ftp from the client copied by different programme to the mercator.

3.There only one map with different Msl's looking for different files.

Any help is greately appriciated

Sounds like you are triggering more than once on the file. Look in your mercator.ini file, see if triggertime is set to =1. If so, see how long it takes for the file to be FTP'ed, and set triggertime to be one second higher. Also, set the map delay to be equal to the triggertime. Second solution: have the source send the large data file, followed by a one byte trigger file, trigger from the one byte file, that way all the data will be available when the map runs. BTW it's spelled "fantom".

I'm facing this problem with some of the mercator maps. We are using a relative path to trigger a mercator executable map using the relative path. The main map fails with a "Target Not Found" error message. If I use the absolute path to point to the mercator executable map, then the map works just fine. I was wondering if anyone came across such a problem.

later.

Yes. Don't use relative paths. The question is, relative to what? The current working directory can change under the event server.

BTW, this should be a new thread.
