I have a dell inspirion e1505 working well, until dropped, screen cracked, was wondering if there is a way to get that Hard drive over to a external hd(which i have 160g)and use a different pc with no working hard drive(like swapping the shells, but with out really swapping the shells)...any help or thoughts would help

IndianD,

Not really sure what you are asking, is it if you can take the hard drive out of the Dell laptop and put it into a computer without a hard drive?

If that is your question, then yes you should be able to!

You might need to get an adapter for the smaller laptop hard drive if you are trying to use it in a regular computer. They sell these in most computer stores, we did it to recover data off a dead laptop, we pulled out the hard drive and connected it as a slave with the adapter in a regular desktop PC.

If that is not what you are asking, you might want to be a littler clearer as to what you are trying to do and what kind of PC or external device you are trying to use!

Hope this helps!

try getting a new (or used) screen off ebay on the dells they are fairly easy to change.
Putting the hard drive in another computer will need a repair install to get it working.

It is easy to attach the hard drive to another laptop if they both use ide or sata drives, if not it's not possible cause theres not really anouth room to fit in an adapter.. what you could do is connect a sata laptop hdd to a pc that uses sata or if the laptop drive is 3.5 inch ide; buy an adapter from ebay
