Hi all,

I'm looking into changing from my old skool fixed telephone line to Skype.

What I need from Skype is:

1. The ability to divert to another phone number when I'm out of office

2. The ability to divert to another phone number when I'm already on another call

3. I also need a memorable local number (UK number)

Can you anyone tell me if Skype can forfill my requirements?

Thanks.

Gavin.

If this is for business I'd avoid Skype.

If you want Ip invest a little more (I notice your a computer shop)

Get something like a small pc, whack on a basic SIP PBX, something like 3CX which will give you a load of features. Get an ATA with "lifeline" support and hook up a phone to this. Then if your broadband drops off at least you can fall back on your PSTN.
You then can look at a host of SIP providers to supply your service.

You may want to look at a non geographic number (0844) that could provide fail over in the event of line down.

Also note that Skype/eBay & it's founders are involved in huge legal battle that could at worst, render it unusable.

Most people spend their time on the "urgent" rather than on the "important."
