Recently tied our network into the internet via a broadband connection.

Using a Lynksys router mpdel BEFSR11 connected to a Cisco 2900 switch.

Our servers are Compaq (3500r and 1600r with 500 mhz cpu's) running NT 4.0 sp6 and Terminal Server / Metaframe 1.8.

We are a small shop with about 8 users, this is our first venture into internet connectivity and I am interested in applying anti-virus protection. I visited a few web sites looking for a suitable software but the more I read, the more confusing (multiple versions, featurs etc. etc.).

Not looking for anything too fancy, just basic anti-virus protection for downloaded files and email, something that won't drag down the server performance too much.

I'd like some feedback / recommendations as to what I should buy to accomplish this.

thanks

James, It's good you are going to run AntiVirus software, it's VERY important.

The easiest thing to do in a small shop like you have would probably just to install NAV on each PC and have them run Live Update daily. You could get a managed SAV server to push defs to your clients, but it may be out of your budget range.

ALSO... while you're thinking about applying AntiVirus software, to be secure you also have to have all of the following:

Firewall such as ZoneAlarm
Make sure your PC's have all the current Microsoft patches
AntiSpyware programs like Ad-aware or SpyBot
Modified HOSTS file and Restricted Zones entries
