Hello,

I read somewhere (sorry, cant remember where now) that if you want to stop the browser errors in event viewer you should alter the registry value IsDomainMaster and set it to true. Now I did this on a member server but I am still getting the errors on my 2003 DC. No other servers are configured with 'True'.

I was going to make the 2003 DC the master browser instead, but heard somewhere this was not wise, though I dont know why.

Any one else dealt with this before.

Regards,
D.

From what I remember these errors you see are from a machine that is unaware of any other master browsers out there. They will in turn go into a kind of vote mode and determine which machine should be the master browser, in this case the machine holding the PDC role will be recognized as the machines new master browser. This goes on continuously via UDP packets through the day with machines coming online and events of similar nature. I think this service has something to do with being the primary repository for something to do with NetBIOS.. I also believe these errors are nothing to be alarmed about.

If I am offbase let me/us know :)
