Need a help on this.
I have a client that leased a frame relay service. But they are encountering problems using their FTP and e-mail but other applications runs well. No problem with the links from site a to site b. But when they use an ordinary leased line ftp and email works. Already advised them to checked their router config and as per them no problem with it. Also checked our FR configuration on our side and no problem seen with the cir and other parameters.

Thanks and hoping for your reactions and response.

Frame relay is a layer 2 protocol which is normally transparent to upper layers protocols. FTP and EMAIL are built over TCP/IP just like HTTP(WEB). Hence, to my opinion there is no problem to run email or ftp over a FR WAN connection. However, I think that ftp could be a problem if the offered data load exceed the committed burst. But before continuing this analysis, could you please check with your client if he has changed the router when he changed to an ordinary leased line. If so, the problem is certainly on the router configuration.

Thanks for the info.
The clients has no problem when using an ordinary leased line. And as per client no problem with thier router configurations. But it's now resolved after advising them to transfer to another port assignment. " Or they also checked thier configuration. Again thanks for your info"
