Hey, all.

Been working with the IPO for a couple years now and I love it when I come across a full IP system included with IP Phones. It makes the installation so much quicker and easier when I can plug phones in anywhere and simply login and logout extensions in order to get them to the right spot.

My problem comes with digital phones -- where each port has a base extension that it is assigned to. Like I said, it would be much, MUCH quicker and painless if we could patch phones through to any port, and simply do something similar to TTI on the Definity, where it would change the BASE extension on that port. I'm aware of being able to set everyone up as hotdesk users, but then anytime we might need to reboot the IPO, all of a sudden the extensions are out of order.

I guess it's more of a feature request (which I should really submit, and probably will), but does anyone know of anything that's on the road map similar to this for digital stations?

If I understand what you need is already present into IPO: it's the association EXTENSION/USER.
When you plug digitals to the system you can use your own rule, then when finished you can modify the association as you like, it only needs a system reset.

That is kind of what we have been doing for digital installations if I understand what you mean correctly. We create users with extension numbers in the 500's for example, but leave all the ports assigned to 200 extensions. We'll then go around and login all the 500 extensions as hotdesk users. Then finally, we compare "Home Extension Number" vs. "Current User Extension" in System Status and update the physical ports accordingly.

What I'd really like to see is a way to use a login code to change the Home Extension Number (what I would've called base extension earlier) as opposed to just the current user extension, which the current login/logout features do. That leaves it so that if the system gets rebooted before we update all the physical extension IDs, then we need to go back through and login the correct extensions again.

It's really all just a personal preference for me, however. But the ultimate reasoning for this is so if we've got voice jacks on a patch panel, we can simply patch them all through to open ports without having to worry about dealing with cutsheets and whatnot. It would not only save time for us, but also make things look quite a bit cleaner I think as well. It also makes it easier for the customer to move extensions around if need be. They don't have to worry about changing it in the programming, or having to move patch cables in the phone/data room.

You need to use delta server for this
Delta server remembers the users if set up right

Gotcha. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

Anyone have an idea if this is on the roadmap for regular IPO installs? I'd love to be able to do this without Delta Server. Like I said, it's a large reason why I love IP Phone setups.. makes it very quick and easy to switch extensions around.

I like it too

setup dhcp
install tftp/http/ftp server and put down the phones

Program (if wanted) limitation so the users can not f*ck up the phone settings :)
Too bad that the backlight still can not be turned off on a 5621

But with the 1600 it works, hope the 1700 will have that too when they come

Is the 5620 even still available? Or is it only the 5621 now? Haven't run into any customers that DIDN'T like the backlight, however. You mean like a toggle for the backlight on a button? That would be nice, definitely.

The 5620 is gone for a while now
You can not turn the backlit off
There is an option in the 46xxsettings.txt file but it does not work for the 5621
It does for the 1600 and the 4621 but on cm firware (4621)

So basicly it will only work on the 1600 phones

You can leave all the Dig ports without any home extension numbers. Then you can just log the users into any port you like.

why 16xx serie and not the 96xx serie, the 16xx is looking cheap... I want 9640 for all IPO installs

Somebody tested a 96xx with 3th party licence?

No go
We tried and it does not work

You see that it is a 9600 series phone but it won't register
