SNMP's only "security" is the strength of your password. It is odd that they call it a community name because most people don't realize that it is a password. You would be amazed at how many servers you can manage thru Insight Manager over the Internet because admins left the comuunity name to public/private. Be that as it may, make you community name something a tad complicated. Additionally, instead of sending traps out on the network, have them sent to one or more specific machines. For external security, disallow ports 161 and 162 in your routers/firewalls.
