I got one location in Northern CA that has a static ip dsl service.
I got another location in Southern CA that has a dynamic
ip dsl service. Can I do a VPN between them?
Must both locations be static ip?

Has anyone tried doing a VPN over a dynamic ip?
Can it be done where a patch or program is run
to check the current assigned ip and it tells the other
firewall what it's current ip address is ?

I think I better go read up on what a VPN is.

Greetings,

There are 'dynamic' dns services which enable you to bind a 'permenant' alias to your dynamic IP address. Check

dyndns.org / tzo.org

If you're fortunate enough to have a DSL router that offers dynamic dns configurations, you can have the router auto-negotiate the service for you so its seamless. Otherwise, you're going to have to run client software on your router or manually bind it everytime your ip changes.
