Any intercom with passthrough technology with the UCx?

Hi everybody: I echo islandtech's earlier post about the UCx being solid. After all of our little tweaks were made, it's been nice to simply enjoy the system as it provides reliable service! I'm currently consulting with another party who may be interested in a UCx for their needs. One thing that's important to them is the ability to "buzz" people into the premise, as they are a school and are locked down during the day.

The Norstar systems performed this feature from properly configured extensions. Is there an IP version of a magnetic doorstrike with intercom feature that would integrate into the UCx? They need the ability to allow entry into the building from several phones, which would make a standalone system difficult. I have a 2N Helios doorphone working in our application, but we simply need conversation without any doorstrike features. They need both. Any thoughts?

The Norstar and BCM uses the BST Doorphone with a Door Opening Controller for that purpose. At this point, the UCx does not support the BST phone, however, there are several IP versions that work well and there are also a few analog devices that do the same thing. I used an Algo station interface device and connected it to one of the analog ports on the gateway and it has worked flawlessly. They also have the door controllers that work off a digit dialed from the dialpad (default is 6) and they work fine as well.

If your customer has a BST unit, the good news is that the Algo set is a direct replacement for it. No modifications needed at all. Just replace the entire unit into the existing mount. The unit comes with 2 faceplate covers too so you can choose between the stainless steel one or the brass one.
