Hello All;

It's been a while since I've needed to ask something. Normally I can get all I need from the FAQ's, or previous threads!

Here's the need:
Customer is planning to install commercial WiFi with access points throughout their premise. They require a wireless/mobile solution for their staff, and the Engenius system in place is not providing the coverage required. I was thinking of getting them some CHEAP smart phones and utilize their WiFi. But I need to interface with old Nortel Key system. (MICS). Is there an affordable solution out there? They really only require 911 service as they are a medical type business. Any help is appreciated as always!

Thanks, Scott

I do not think you will find a way to integrate any WiFi with a system that is too primitive for voip.
Even BCM would be tough but you could connect WiFi sets to it.

Is a new system out of the question?

Did you link with me I forget? you in Niagara?

If all you are using the wireless for is calling 911, a cell is perfect. You do not require a cell phone account. By law even deactivated cell phones can call 911.

I've not linked with you! I am from brantford but work The Golden Horseshoe. New system would be out of the question at this time. It's an not for profit. Spectralink was too expensive as a solution. Their Engenius handsets are $500 and up. I was just hoping for an "outside of the box" solution! Smart phones for $150 are more attractive to the customer!

Thanks, Scott.

This is true what Marv said above if only 911 and no need for excepting or making normal calls......but who once to carry a phone around for a once in a blue moon emergency?
In fact it could be just a regular flip phone.

What about wall mounting red M7100's here an there?

If you use system phones (M7100 / T7100) You would probably want to use Restrictions and have a COS password...
