Any good reporting tools for the web?

I've been using Actuate for about a year, but it still takes me much longer to develop reports in Actuate than any other reporting tools. I've found MS Access to be the easiest reporting tool and Crystal the 2nd easiest, but neither of these have good web support. Can you recommend any easy web based reporting tools?

Maybe you need to amend yout techiques for developing a report. If it's taking you less in Access, then try some new techiniques. Do you utilize libraries at all? They can quicken things up.

Yeah - I have found that Actuate, once I got over the learning curve, is hands down the best and fastest to whip out a nicely formatted web report. You might want to seperate your database/app development time from report dev time and judge it by that.

Sounds like my problem is that I haven't gotten over the learning curve yet. I've taken the report designer fundementals class for Actuate 7. Are there other courses that you would suggest?

Hook up with a mentor! That's what helped me out. I was working with a guy named Pierre at actuate. I would call him and bounce questions off of him anytime i needed to do something. I never found the actuate report design classes that helpful. The admin classes were helpful though.

I also found the examples that came with ERD trmendously helpful.

A good relationship with Actuate, and hooking into that community is really helpful. There just isn't a lot of Actuate help out ther eon the web so it's much more geared toward networking with the Actuate company itself.
