If this is not allowed I apologize. Please E-mail me if you are interested in compiling Fortran Code on my behalf for 64-bit platforms. I have an occassional need, like monthly.
I simply do not have a suitable compiler for 64-bit applications.

How about doing this (I am assuming you have at least a dual core or something that will run 64-bit)

1) Get VMWare player
2) Get a 64 bit version of Linux
3) Using VMWare, create a 64-bit Linux appliance

You now have 64-bit compiler (gfortran) running on 64-bit Linux.

I have an Intel DualCore2 chip, Windows Vista OS.

1) Have found the VMWare Player. Which version do I download, the Linux version or the Windows version? I assume the Linux version as Linux will be the Host OS system when running VMWare.

2) Is the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Desktop Version, Suitable? I am a 70-year old self-taught IT guy!! No Linux Experience.

I assume that the gfortran compiler is included within Red Hat Linux? The only Fortran app that I own is Microsoft Developer Studio which is strictly 32-bit.

1) Since you're using Vista, download the Windows version. Vista is the Host OS. Linux will be the "Appliance" as they call it.

2) Is it Red Hat 32 bit or 64 bit? If it is 32 bit then you can get Fedora 12 or SUSE or Ubuntu for 64 bits.

Linux is not so command line driven as it used to be. It can be quite GUI-ish if you want it to be.

If gfortran isn't included, you can get it off the net. It is normally included nowadays since it is just a variant of gcc.
