Any easy tutorial for bitmap movies?

I am trying to get a bitmap movie effect, like I see on many sites. I have found some information on the web, but all of the tutorials skip steps or seem too dificult.

Does anyone have a good link or tutorial? I just want the basics, then I can advance from that point.
