I would like for a client to be able to list the backups in progress for that client, but only for itself. A couple of the NT SysAdmins want to be able to see if there's any backups running for their clients right now, or how the last backup did. Their clients aren't media servers, so they don't have the admincmd directory with it's goodies to do this.
Is there any command or way for a normal windows client to display it's own backups ?

I've found thast the "bpclimagelist" command will give me some information on the jobs previously run for this client, but it's lacking information on any jobs "in progress". Anyone know if a client can see what's currently running on their behalf ?

You could look for bpbkar deamon which runs on the client and sends the data to the media server. So there will always be a bpbkar when a backup is running.

ps -ef |grep bpbkar

Warning. tracker does effect backup performance.

Disable Job Tracker on each client machine by removing it from the All Users Startup Group and killing the active process. (Job Tracker is listed as tracker.exe in Task Manager. Job Tracker is designed for computers that are used as desktop workstations, to tell the users when a backup is active on their workstation. Consequently it is not needed on normal data center class servers.)
