So we have a customer who was using a few softphones with OneXPortal on R8. They are making the plunge to finally get upgraded to R11. The only thing that I am not familiar with is the soft phones for R11. Its just not an application that we do anything with. I remember reading somewhere that Avaya changed something on the softphones, but I don't remember what.

So my basic question is, they have people that want to work from home, using the softphone on their laptops with VPN. It seems to be working now on R8. Is it going to change anything when they move to R11?

is One X Portal the same?, or is this where Equinox comes in? Not sure. I am pretty new to the remote user stuff. Just didn't need it before.

Thanks you guys!

And I hope everyone is doing stuff to keep safe out there!

The softphone line up always seems to be changing but R11 now has IX workplace (formerly known as Equinox). This connects direct to the IP office without needing One_X portal.

I've only used it locally but can't see why it shouldn't work over a VPN.

Hi @derfloh, can you click to dial with IX Workplace on Windows?

Just to follow on, the click to dial feature works, you have to enable dialling rules in the workplace client and configure accordingly.

Does the Ix Workplace just use Power User or Teleworker licenses to work?

Thanks guys for all the great information. I am sure I will probably have more questions moving forward. I will see if I can download the R11 softphone and at least take a look at the interface. I have been working on building a server edition demo switch, I guess with all the at home time, now would be a good time. LOL

Just wanted to bump this back. They got the soft phones working on the old R8 software. We were in the middle of doing an upgrade to R11 when all this stuff came down. So currently they are still live on the old R8 using one X Portal. The issue is no there is not any audio between the soft phones. They can call 10 digit numbers just fine, but when they try to call another remote softphone user they get no audio. They do get call indication. We tried changing the Codec's but that doesn't seem to work. We also unchecked and checked "Allow Direct Media Path".
