It has an installer, and it will place a default SQL Server database called CE85 which houses the APS objects on the machine.
You'll need a WEB service available, such as IIS.
Otherwise you should be able to get it up and going by just selecting the defaults.
There are considerations based on your architecture, but it comes with lots of documentation which does a very good job of describing the install process and caveats.
Careful if you're upgrading - it only installs the stuff you have already - this means the new event server isn't installed. You then need to rerun install to add the extra bits.
I had problems installing as I was running both SQL7 and SQL2000. I took SQL7 off and it works OK. Andrew Baines

Not tried it. Reading the install notes, it depends how much you're putting on Unix. If it's just a web connector then pretty much the same.
If it's everything then the install is like a Unix install - long winded! Andrew Baines
