Any automatic system backups hiding somewhere??

I've got a neighbor with NeatReceipts on Windows Vista and as I understand it, that runs on a SQL database at the following path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data

Well, it got hosed and there is NO recent backup. Is there any chance that there's an automatic/recent backup that gets created by the operating system anywhere that I could use? Probably just wishing here.

Under normal circumstances, I would recommend you update your resume. Since this is a neighbor, and not for work... you'll get a pass.

SQL Server does not hide any backups anywhere. That being said, there still may be things that can be done.

When you say, "it got hosed", what do you mean?

Can you verify that the SQL Server service is started? To do this:
Click Start -> Run
Type services.msc
scroll down to SQL Server

Does the service exist? Is it started? Is it set to automatic? If it's not started, can you start it manually?

That sounds just like something I would say to someone else with brutal honesty AND I AGREE. But, I've never claimed to know anything about SQL Server AND it's not work-related so you can't fire me!

When you say, "it got hosed", what do you mean?

HOSED = overwritten with an older database backup using Backup/Restore utility from within the program. So, functioning, but data is way old. Everything is running, it's just the data that has been overwritten with old stuff.

We found a backup on a memory stick, so this is a closed issue now. Thanks for responses.
