anwering with handsfree not working

We have a couple of instances where an incoming call is answered by picking up the handset only but it does not work. The user needs to use the answer key- any ideas

Yes it's a bug you are hitting
what firmware load and phone type?

user can only generate a new call by explicitly pressing the "new call" softkey - and user can answer a call only by pressing the "answer" key

a reset of the phone clears it on a short term basis, but usually reappears within a few days/weeks

I was hitting it on 7970 phones FW version 8.0(3)

Version 8.0(4) has a permanent fix -
CSCsc99161
Phone will not go offhook except via softkey

Make sure it's not mechanical. I've seen this where the people have reversed the button that holds the handset for wall mounted phones on their desk phone and then they don't get the phone hung up completely. It looks like it's hung up but it's hanging up very slightly on the ridge in the plastic.

I thought I saw it as a bug previously but couldn`t locate it but also others have commented on the clip for the handset.
