I was wondering if anyone could suggest any good antivirus, other than Nortons or McAfee? My pc has been hit very hard with virus's lately and neither of these two antivirus's caught them at one point I had over 5 hundred files infected. I went to BitDefender on-line scanning to find them, then remove them. So needless to say I don't trust nortons or McAfee.

FAQs have pointers to other sites. And there are several birus forums you probably need to visit.

..i thought it was a cross between a bird and a walrus. heheh ;) but..hey Ron40, did you have up-to-date virus definitions for norton and mcafee? and do you update your windows often? doing those two things usually take care of a lotta problems.

No VIRUS scanner is 100%... simple facts, if it doesn't know the VIRUS, it won't find it (Virus Defenition needs to be up to date)...

Personally, I use AntiVir Personal (it's free) aswell as a Trojan Hunter (The Cleaner) and several AntiSpyWare progies like SpyBot, AdAware... and not to forget, you definately need a Firewall (like ZoneAlarm or Sygate Personal Firewall)... even with these installed one is not 100% safe from Virus attacks, but nearly...

Virii usually come attached to EMAILs and need to be opened by the user, unless he/she has certain scripts which open automatically (like vbs or jscripts)...
