Hello all,
I'm running SuSE 10.0 on my laptop, and I have clamAV installed on there. However, I'd like to get antivirus stuff a bit more friendly. On Windows I use NOD32 and if I could get something for Linux with the same functionality and ease of use, I would be a happy bunny.
In particular I would like antivirus software with a nice GUI and easy integration with my system; and, particularly, to be able to scan incoming (and preferably outgoing) email. I use Thunderbird as my email program.
Various people have commented that I actually don't need antivirus scanning in the way I do in Windows; this doesn't satisfy me. Suffice to say that I want it anyway. ;-)
I have tried KlamAV but found it unsatisfactory---it had a nasty tendency to crash and it couldn't put in place automatic email scanning for Thunderbird.
Others have suggested p3scan but I was put off by the idea that I would have to put in place a whole load of configurations sending stuff to new ports, and having to change the details in the email software as a result.
... So, can anyone suggest an alternative? I'm tempted to try NOD32 for Linux, but I'm not sure which version to choose (there are several: for Linux file server, for Linux mail server ...). If anyone has any experience, comments would be welcome. But if anyone can suggest an alternative, I'd be just as happy.
Many thanks,
