Hi

Can the anti-virus software intefer with the SAP servers?

I currenlty run Sophos Enterprise console on my windows 2003 servers. I want to put it on the new Windows SAP servers, Will it affect/ likely to affect any of the SAP soluiton from working?

SAP runs on top of a database. If the AV software would tie up a DB without SAP, it will effect SAP. Contact the AV provider and ask. Post the answer here too.

You might want to run the scan at some hour when the system is idle (assuming you are not a 24/7 shop.

Hi
Dont scan the server on the SAP code tree and dont scan database files.
If you server security is set up right then the users wont be altering the files or directories in any way where the application code resides so make sure it is read execute only for the appliaction code so user can write to it.

Never scan database files with a virus scanner. You will sooner or later bring your database down or worse may trash the database.

Scanning of these spaces is not a requireent to meet good practice

Thank you,

The consultants will give a list of files not to be scanned i will post them whne i have it

Now that the consultants have recommended 64 bit:

Sophos Endpoint Security (SAV 6.0 and Enterprise
Console 2.0), supports 64 bit Operating Systems.

The Subnet will be fine. The ports are 8192, 8193, 8194 - TCP/IP.

Are your CPUs and Windows OS 64 bit? If not, file the consultants :)
