I am using Bit Defender Pro on an XPP machine. Yesterday's scan found:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{18E988B8-B6D1-4F39-AE01-F1DB47E1E3F1}\RP306\A0053680.exe=>(ZIP Sfx o)=>TSUNINST.EXE Detected: Adware.Timesink.F -- Disinfection Failed
Everything I read about "TSUNINST.EXE" says get rid of it and the only way I can see to do it is delete the zip file from the folder.

The question is, will I possibly damage a restore point? Do I want to keep a restore point that is infected? I wouldn't think so.

TIA

. You cannot edit file collections within a restore point;

. The best thing to do is the clean up existing restore points and then manually force a restore point:

Right-click My Computer, Properties, System Restore
Checkmark 'Turn off System Restore on all drives'

Right-click My Computer, Properties, System Restore
Un-Checkmark 'Turn off System Restore on all drives'

Now you're restore points are clean. Time to manually force a restore point to be created.

. If you do this frequently, copy/paste the below into Notepad and File, Save as.. Create_Restore_Point.vbs :

<---------- File begins below this line ---------->
' This script creates a Restore Point under Windows XP.
rp = "Manual Restore Point"
GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\default:SystemRestore").CreateRestorePoint rp, 0, 100

<----------- File ends above this line ----------->

Place your new file 'Create_Restore_Point.vbs into your \Windows\System32 folder.

Now right click on your desktop, New, Shortcut, and enter as the shortcut target:
wscript Create_Restore_Point.vbs

Gived the shorcut a nice title and save.

Now test it by double clicking your new desktop shortcut.

You can view your work in Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.

You also have the "More Options" tab available in the Disk Cleanup tool that you can make use of after creating a new clean restore point.
