just installed some anti spyware on machine and scanned. get quite abit of parasites in registry. backweb lite, can someone tell me just how you decide which to remove and which may be unwanted spyware?

Check the faq section of this forum.
run cwshredder
spybot
and hijack this.
You can then google on things you think may be a problem, when you've done all you feel safe doing, post a hijack this log for someone here to take a look at.

I always use spybot. When I say always, I mean I've used it on at least a hundred of different client's computers.

Whatever it doesn't check, I usually leave. Whatever it does check, I try to matchup with entries in Add/Remove programs. I try to uninstall them using the uninstaller they come with, and if that doesn't work, then I let Spybot rip them out.

You mentioned the one common item I always see unchecked, backweb lite. It tends to come installed with Logitech software, and on some HP/Compaq PCs. You can usually just turn off this software using MSCONFIG. However, you can uninstall it if you like.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
