We all probably have work with a version of Refox so we now how dangerous can it be. Does anyone, by chance, knows something to protect our software fom this "desease". Thank's a lot guys & girls !!!

While I am intrested in knowing more into this, I give some views into this.
Some of the critical codes can be kept in an Encrpted DATABASE which are included in the Project. So only the macros are thrown open while the actual codes are still staying as encrypted. The level of encryption is to your imagination.. depending on the level of privacy you need.

Any more ideas welcome.. and.. I am also interested. ramani :)

Hello.

Maybe using Refox with Brand Level II will help you. As far as I know, this level cannot be decompiled by Refox.

But I've heard that this "branding" means in fact writing a byte in the code that tell to Refox: "this code is branded". And Refox stops decompiling the code because of this flag. I've got from a fpt site a "Password remover for refox" (working on refox5) wich patch the Refox main executable. After patching, Refox decompiles any foxpro .exe branded with refox. That's it, Refox doesnt' stop decompiling, disregarding the branding level.

Hope this helps.

So only the macros are thrown open while the actual codes are still staying as encrypted.

Since FoxPro has to decrypt the code at some point, I'd think the key to decrypting has to be available. Therefore it could be hacked by a sufficiently inspired hacker, or program. If you haven't read Godel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstadter, you might want to read the section about 'unbreakable phonographs'. --Dave
