I have just bought (but not received yet) a USB WLAN adapter with a replaceable antenna. I think I have two possibilities in how to set it up: Either a long antenna cable or a long USB cable (with Active Extension Cable Repeater).

What do you experts say?

Long USB cable, keep the RF path as short as possible. You have to be very careful with antenna cables, it's easy to loose as much in the cable as you gain from the antenna. Whereas if you convert from RF to metallic data it doesn't matter (within reason) how far you haul the data.
