We have connected an analogue answering machine to our IATA on CICS running SIP 2.0 An analogue phone connected to this port rings on incomming calls. When we connect our answering machine to this same port, it will not answer incoming calls. When we connect this same answering machine to an external ATA, it answers incoming calls.

Any ideas why the answering machine works with an external ATA and not the IATA?

IATA may not have enough voltage in its ring tone. Some answer machine can work with line voltage as low as 20V, some of them only works with close to 50V. Change to a different answer machine may give you desired result.
