Answering console calls from stations

Im failing to answer calls ringing on the console from any station (i.e call-pick up) using the programmed call-pick up codes.
Is it possible to answer calls ringing on the console from stations & how is it set up?

The following is cut and pasted from the help files

Directed Call Pickup of Attendant Call - lets users pick up any call ringing at an attendant console except recalls and callbacks.

COS Option - Allow Directed Call Pickup of Attendant
- Default is No
-Select "Yes" to allow an extension user to answer calls, except recalls and callbacks, to an attendant console by using the Call Pickup - Directed feature and dialing the console prime line number.
- The console must have "Call Pickup - Directed: Accept" enabled in its Class of Service for its calls to be picked up.
