Hi, We are using MicroCall as our phone billing system. I have a problem with "A short call". For Example: If someone call long distance for 2 seconds/few seconds, MicroCall doesn't pick up the call but our Long Distance Carrier pick up he call and we are getting charge. So we don't know who use the long distance. We call Microcall and they said it has something to do with "Answer Supervision". Does any one know about answer supervision.? Our outside techinican said that it may be the programming in the CDR ot T-1 Timer. Which one is the correct one ? Please someone help me. Thank you very much

What type of trunks?

T1 - E&M wink start
Copper - ground start
Copper - Loop start
T1 - PRI

I am not really sure but I guess T1-PRI

Type of trunk is important to your question.

Loop and ground start trunks have no supervision. But there are devices that Microcall could put in line to simulate.

T1 e&m wink start offers supervision but must be enabled

T1-PRI uses Dchannel messaging and has no need for supervision as it has call build up and tear down in the dchannel messages.

I have T1-PRI and I just prt in load 20 for My long distance T1 and i don't have supervision, So what does it mean if i don't have supervision. and how can i fix the problem. Thanks for your help

Supervision is not needed for PRI - there is nothing more you can do -

Couple things -

1 The prompt OAN set to yes will output CDR only when answer supervision recieved. You could try changing to no. You will then get a call record whether or not the called party answers

2 Most call acounting packages allow a minimum duration to be set - throwing out any call under that min.

So if the OAN set to yes---I will NOT get a call record whether or not the called party answers. and
if the OAN set to no I will get a call record whether or not the called party answers.

MicroCall did set the a minimum duration from 3 sec to 2 sec but they are afraid it can start charging people whether the called party answers or not (just ringing)

Where can i change the OAN?

Thanks again for your help.
I will Mark this post as a helpful/expert post!

With pri trunks your OAN should be set to yes and the MicroCall min call duration should be set to 0

With oan to yes you will get a call record only on answered calls.

OAN is in the route data block. You must say yes to cdr to get the prompt. Print RDB in ld 21, Change RDB in ld 16

I check in RDB and OAN is set to YES. so it does mean that we just need to set the MicroCall min call duration to 0 and we dont have to worry charging people whether the called party answers or not (just ringing). Because we will get a call record only on answered calls. What is OAN stand for ?

Thanks A lot
Sanjaya

Correct - OAN is CDR starts on answer supervision of outgoing calls
