ANSI memory information functions

Does anybody know if is there any ANSI function in C that would tell me the amount of available (non-virtual) memory? [red]Nosferatu[/red]

I have never come across one, I would think there would not be an ANSI function as the method of reporting the information would be very platform and OS specific....
