After successfully installing the windows component update [on windows xp professional]:

On continuing setup from cd1 an Error 1305 is reported [Error reading from file]:
'SOURCE:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\FrameworkSDK\Samples\QuickStart\...
...winforms\samples\data\webservicebinding\vb\client\web references\localhost\...
...SimpleCustomersWebServide.wsdl
Verfify that the file exists and you can access it.'

The file exists on the CD and there is nothing to suggest its corrupt.
Anybody else seen or heard of this problem. Im trying to get hold of the file to copy it across myself to see if that fixes things but cant seem to locate anywhere.
Please help

Jamie

I got this problem also with the .NET studio but i think only problem might be(not shure):
1. check for an antivirus
2. if 1 doesnt fix it then most is a registry problem and i dont think it will be fixed withowt a patch or a full system install.

Now i managed to install it after a full system install and i get another problem: each time i see the ASP source it crushed. ________

I get the exact same error as Jamie1447, using WIN2K. The file exists on the CD, but not in the location stated in the 1305 Error. I found the file in the folder ...webservicebinding\vb. The other folders in this one are "client" and "dataset", there is no webreferences folder under the vb folder. Any more suggestions???

I managed to get VS to install after copying all files from the installation CD's onto a common directory on the HD.
The problem it seems [for me anyway] is that VS was encountering a problem when it discovered a directory it was trying to create already existed [the separate CDs install files into shared directories]. After copying all files across and installing from HD location it worked!

I had the odd corrupt file which I downloaded from the net.

Hey dude i'm having the same problem. Where on the net did you find that file?

I got this problem and had tried reinstalling VB.NET a few times.

Then, after simply disabling my McAfee Anti-virus, everything worked!

Thanks.. Shaddow for your guide.
