Since were on a roll asking for site critique's I thought I join in.

Web site
Background:
This site is for a dog grooming salon.
The owner of the site really likes the fancy graphics.
It uses javascript. If there is an easy way to do it without javascript I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

My main criticism (I'm assuming that's what you wanted :) ) concerns the logo and cartoon at the top. They are in jpg format, and given the nature of the images would have been better saved as gif files, which would have given better definition to the graphics and also occupied a smaller file size - best of both worlds!

Regarding the JavaScript, with it enabled I gave up waiting for all those images to preload, and had I been a potential customer I would have left. Without JavaScript it loads reasonably well, but why when I go to view 'Our Staff' I have then to click taps I just don't know......

I would streamline those links, making them simple HTML and forget the JavaScript - I can't see it has a use here.
(But then I'm biased - I don't like sites that rely on scripts to work.)

Regards, Andy.

My pathetic attempts at learning HTML can be laughed at here:

Gimmicks never work in the long run.
Make it simpler
The taps thing got old after I'd clicked them 5 times.

Visitors to a pet grooming site want to know about the pet grooming. They really wont care for clicking taps. They just want the info with minimal effort.

Sorry if that sounds harsh. It's not meant to be really but the tap thing doesn't really bring much tot he party except a bottle of cheap Asti.

The site is very interesting.

I like it think it is a very good concept.

My only thing Im not fond of is the extra paw link at the bottom

IMHO It did take a while to load.
A couple of points to ponder:
I liked the graphics once they finally loaded...and my machine isn't as outdated as most people I know.

I love the visuals but I love pictures and graphics. Most people really wouldnt take the time.

The before and after is Great...shows the owner's talent.

I wonder if you could accomplish the same effect with a Flash movie?

looks like a lot of hard work went into it. good job.

Thank you all for your comments. I was expecting a lot worse.
When I first started the site and the owner told me what she wanted I was hesitant. I don't generally like these sorts of sites. too much clicking with too little info gain.
The taps are cute, but your right they do get old quick.

thanks hotfusion. When I find some time I will change that top pic to a gif. I did't realize it would be smaller.

singersower. I considered flash, but I don't know a lot about it. The few flash sites i've seen I haven't cared for.

Tanks again. I will try to remember these comment when I'm next updating the site.

I'm glad you didn't take my comments as being too harsh.

I always try to remember that first and foremost a user is looking for information. Anything you add on top of that is getting in the way. By all means dress it up, but never make it so that it's in the way of getting the information.
If it's not a site about art, then don't make it art.

Don't make people click more than once to see the linked pages; in other words, drop the tap-clicking.

On a slightly different note, WHO would spot their white poodle with blue dots???? For that matter, who would own a poodle anyway?? ;)

hey I like my poodle. Yes she is my poodle. well... shes my wife poodle. she work at Clasy Clips.

The blue dots are almost an interesting as when she was all blue, or all yellow (she still is partially yellow), shes has a snowflake, candy cane, holly shaved on her.

It's NOT crule!!! the more "interesting" she looks the more attention she get, and she Loves attention!!

Thanks for all of you comments!

I've got some new ideas in mind base on some of the comments, I just have to figure out how to implement some of them.

Thanks again.
