Well, if the boss insists, it's not that hard to set up, and it can work, but you have to know what it can and cannot do...
First things first...
I assume you have a Remote access card (if not, you should get one).
After setting the system up for remote programming (you need to use ext 10 or 11 first..sorry).
Avaya Programming
Do all programming from Ext 10 or 11
Prepare a system for remote configuration
Feature 00 Left Intercom, Left Intercom, #505 (create a hunt group)
Make it group #6
Enter 76 and assign it to the hunt group…
Now 76 is what you connect to when using PC configuration…
At extension 10 Feature 00 Left Intercom, Left Intercom, Right Intercom
Select an extension to use (typically an unused one)
** Left Intercom, Lines 1, 2, 3, etc.
This is so you can make intercom calls from the PC…
Then, after hitting Feature 00 Left Intercom, Left Intercom, #730 to create a remote administration password.
The codes for letters:
Letters Numbers
A = 21 N = 62 blank = 11
B = 22 O = 63 0 = 00
C = 23 P = 71 1 = 10
D = 31 Q = 72 2 = 20
E = 32 R = 73 3 = 30
F = 33 S = 74 4 = 40
G = 41 T = 81 5 = 50
H = 42 U = 82 6 = 60
I = 43 V = 83 7 = 70
J = 51 W = 91 8 = 80
K = 52 X = 92 9 = 90
L = 53 Y = 93
M = 61 Z = 94
So if you have two pairs leading from a wall outlet to the system, the boss can have a laptop at his desk and make changes.
The thing to remember is that changes are not made in real time...the changed file has to be saved to a file with a new name, uploaded to the card (or internal memory), then you have to restore the settings from the card of internal memory (depending on where you put the file...) Also, changes to small VM cards have to be made via the phone. There is a separate program for VS systems, but we have few of those (usually, our customers needing that many features in a VM go with Intertel).
From where I stand. I use PC programming for initial programming and backup only. Any tweaking I do from extension 10 or 11...
