I had a marketing person ask if a message (marketing propaganda) could be recorded that would play when people were on hold. I gave the old "let me look into it" answer. My skills are pretty limited so please, don't confuse the newbie with PBX lingo.

Is this possible and, if so, how would I go about doing it?

We have a Nortel 11c (I think) with Meridian Mail for voicemail. Our phones are all 2006, 2008 and 2616 models.

If any more info is required for an answer, please let me know.

The newbie thanks you for any help! [tongue]

Sure, this is pretty easy to do. What you will need is a universal trunk card for the PBX and a device to play your message with, ie a cassette deck that auto repeats or a CD player. Bogen makes an on hold cassette unit, but they are about $300.

You then have to connect the line coming out of the device onto the port of the trunk card that you want to use. You have to build the port as a music trunk, so you have to build a route in your PBX as well for music. Usually though, route 40 is built be default in the software for music.
