I am in the planning process of converting our existing intranet to sharepoint portal server and WSS. From what I have seen with WSS it is going to allow alot more collaboration than before. However, one critical function that we use with our existing Intranet that is based on Frontpage and using FP server extensions is the ability to create forms using frontpage and have the results feed into an excel spreadsheet. We do this to get feedback on certain things from employees. However, my understanding (which could be wrong) is that with WSS, Frontpage server extensions should not be installed on your webserver. (I am installing just a single server environment). So, without using Infopath (which is recommended by Microsoft, but we do not have this program) what options do I have for setting up forms like this for gathering information.

So basically, I just want to make sure that I will still have a way to create web-based forms to gather information without having to use Infopath.

Thanks for any suggestions or clarification.

In Sharepoint you could create a custom list and have that list feed to excel. Also Frontpage server extensions can run on the same server just not the same website.
I have
Three website running using Frontpage server extensions
and
Four Sharepoint sites
All running on the same server using IIS 6.0

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.

I may well be missing something, but would Polls not meet your requirement?
