Sometimes my Computer pops out that message! Is there any way to find out if another machine is really taking the IP address from my machine ?
I have a static IP and any ping from another machine shows the Hostname of my machine. I just cant figure out where the problem can actually be. The host resolution is set to DNS, NIS, Local. Thief................ ::)

another machine, on your network, has the same IP address as your machine

turn off your machine, delete its entry from the DNS, ping it again (with it still turned off)

if the address is pingable with your machine turned off, there's definitely a machine out there with your address

try telnet to that ip address, maybe you will be able to tell what it is from that

it will be on your network.... talk to your sysadmin and get a list of machines on your network -- then go check Mike
