Whenever I click on one of my databases in Enterprise Manager, in a typical environment I can usually see the Taskpad for the database. For me, I am getting this Internet Explorer Script Error:

I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0x0000000 in the file F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\msdbdata.mdf

I think my only option is to either repair the msdb database or to restore from a backup which might be the best option as we don't add SQLServer jobs very often and I can deal with losing come history.

Any suggestions? Is there any exposure to restoring the msdb database from backup. I assume I will have to be in single user mode to do so?

Hi bessebo,

If your backup of the msdb database is recent enough for you to cope with losing any changes since it was made then yes - restore from the last known good backup. You will need to stop the SQL Server Agent to be able to restore. You don't need single user mode, just ensure the agent is stopped.

HTH,

M.
