Well being on Win98 - you might have a codec problem. Or what version on Windows media player do you have on there? Did you convert this WMV file recently?
Here's the situation. I created the movie on Win Movie Maker, uploaded it to my website via FP98 (with your assistance, thank you) and it works on my machine when I go to the website and start it. (XP Pro, media player 9.0)
My partner's machine is running Win 98. I am awaiting word on what WMP version he has. He can download the movie and play it in WMP but I want him to be able to play the movie while on the website
If you look at the coding - you specify a classid (which I think is standard) and also a version. I usually used Windows Media Encoder to create a WMV file myself. You might try that. You can download that at
- I do not know if it will make a difference or not. I usually use the code that I gave you. As far as creating the videos, I have someone that I have do that for me.
Speify the version of WMP? If that is the case, how do you make it universal, or at least so that somone with an older version of WMP won't run into this problem?
I really do not know. I doubt there is a way. I mean - this should not work in Netscape because it is a WMV (Windows Media Video) - so you are not going to make everyone happy. I am actually getting ready to convert a lot to Flash which seems to be more universal than just the video (WMV, MOV, RAM)
