Yesterday I'd asked about retaining the formatting on the X-axis when exporting a worksheet with a chart to a new workbook. I got excellent advice to de-select the "Linked to source" box on the number tab of the Format Axis properties.

I have another chart that I also want to export that has a data table attached to it. When I export it I lose the formatting on the data table (would like the numbers to have 99,999 format, but I'm getting 99999). I can't find a similar option to "Linked to source". Is there anything I can do?

AFAIK, there is no way to do this - there is no property of the data table that controls its number formatting - it seems like it is always linked to source.

As such the only way around is to format the data in the new sheet as per the source sheet....or copy/paste as picture

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Thanks Geoff. I am breaking links with the source data so I was thinking that I would have to send an additional worksheet with the data to feed the graph, but what I've done instead is hide the data table on the cells behind the graph. Then when I break the links, this graph is still linked to that data (with its formatting) and all's good! Thanks for your help.
