We're running 8.0.11.7 and our switchboard has an IP console and our operator controls the day / night mode which just plays a greeting only voicemail at night.

I have another telephone extension that I would like to play that same night voicemail greeting when our phone system is in night mode automatically. ( without the need for someone to press a transfer key )

We would also be fine with it to be set on a schedule like mon-fri 8-5 is our biz hours, so outside those hours it would simply play the same msg.

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

-Kevin

Some of what you're asking for Might be possible by jumping through a lot of programming hoops. The end result would never be 100% and would be very complicated to support.

You do not say what you want the DID to do during normal business hours. I'm assuming something different than at night. If I'm assuming wrong, educate me.

The DID 1205 is to head to 1205 VM with a "day" message after 6 rings. Then when our system is in night mode just forward to the greeting only vm of 1000. I am trying to avoid someone having to manually press a forward button on the 1205 phone to forward to another vm box then unforward the next morning. I can only think of this automatic change to occur when our operator changes our system from day mode to night mode, or a specific schedule setup on 1205 to acomplish this. Also the night message that would be on 1205 would be identical on 1000 and the next thing i need to look into is alternate vm greetings. With monday being a holiday we had to change the vm greetings on about 4 DID numbers and additional 4 Spanish only DID's then on tuesday change them back ( we put that we will be closed on monday due to a holiday, then say all the other normal stuff like our biz hours and call 911 for an emergency ) One of our biggest complaints is having to re-record a paragraph of text on 8 different vm boxes.

If either involve programming hoops, ill let the supervisor know its not possible, cause we want to keep our setup as simple as possible.

thanks again for the reply, you have replied to a bunch of my posts and i really appreciate you sharing your experience / knowledge of the mitel equipment!

To make my reply simple. Im wondering if an extension can be setup to forward calls to one voicemail box during certain hours , then to another at different hours.

Another option is instead of this behavior occuring with the time, it occurs when our switchboard operator puts our phone system into night mode.

thanks

The simple answer is yes. A single number can be directed to different mailboxes via Night mode switching. There is a FAQ for this.

The issue with your request is that you want 1 number split into 2 modes but also 1 of the modes to be then be combined with another separate existing number into that existing numbers mailbox.

Read the FAQ faq1329-6743

The process outlined in this FAQ can be used to either split or combine numbers. I would strongly advise against trying to do both at the same time.

In the future, ill check the FAQ first. thanks again for your help!

You can use a hunt group type "Name Tag" to change forward digits into voicemail

I would create a new Hunt Group "Name Tag" with the DN starting with * (i.e *5555). Make sure that it doesnt conflict with FE AC Codes. You might want to also think about the effects of having a 5 digit number(interdigit time)

CallFwd Al *5555 to voice mail hunt group

Create a voice mail box 5555

*5555 will now be picked up by VM not the original DID/DN

This will be handy when you want to send a main I/C number to one mailbox in the day and another in the night.

chrismit,

Can you elaborate a little bit more in layman's terms?

thanks

ChrisMit is combining 2 other voicemail tricks to accomplish your task. I've placed links to the FAQ's below. I admit this solution had not occured to me. Thanks Chris.

For your Specific example you would create a huntgroup numbered as *1000. Hunt Type would be set to Nametag and it would be routed to Voicemail immediately. (Call rerouting form)

*1000 would then be set up as a Call forward Always routing point.

DID 1205 would be routed to *1000 in night mode.

The theory being that 1205 would go to MB 1205 during the day and MB 1000 at night. On paper this should work.

Update:

I've proven this concept in my lab. Combining the voicemail shortcut procedure and using Nametag type huntgroups allows redirect to any voicemail via call re-route.

Cool!

That is awesome!! I thank you both!!

I did have one more embedded voicemail question and would start another thread but i figured ill just ask it here.

In laymans terms how good or what options do we have for alternate voicemail greetings for some of our DID numbers? We record a new 60 second msg for each holiday we are closed the night before, and it can be a bit of a drag having to change it back the day after the holiday. Especially since we have vm's for spanish and english.

Any suggestions or options available to us would be great..

thanks

Use the temporary greeting option. That is what it is designed for.

Each individual mailbox has this ability.

The System level also has temporary greetings.

The temp greeting will replace the original greeting for a defined (01-99) number of days and then automatically revert to the original greeting. To disable manually you would define 00 days.

I see in the System Audio Files Update i can select a Mailbox Greeting, enter an extension and select greeting type temporary and upload the file. But where can i select this temporary greeting to be used and where can i see the specific .wav file that i uploaded? I dont see this as an option under Voice Mailbox Configuration..

thanks

the temporary greeting can only be activated by from the mailbox.

Login to the mailbox, Press(8)User Options, then 8(Temporary Greeting)

If in the Admin Mailbox:
Press 4 for system greetings
Press 1 for primary greetings
Press 3 for temporary greetings

Glad I could have been of some help... although I am not very good at describing what I mean!
