I have posted a request like this before with mixed results mainly because i was confused with what i needed. I have now decided what i need and was wondering if any of you could help

I have a report which looks like this at the moment.

Group Heading 1
Group Heading 2
Group Heading 3
Group Heading 4
(Details) My Details Line 1
(Details) My Details Line 2
(Details) My Details Line 3
Group Heading 4
(Details) Another line 1
(Details) Another line 2

However I would to modify it so that it does the following:

Total the number of detailes in group 4 (in this case 5)

Add the number of group heading 4’s (in this case 2)

Then divide the two numbers (in this case 5/2 – 2.5)

Then display that result next to group header 3

The ending result would look like this

Group Heading 1
Group Heading 2
Group Heading 3 2.5

If you can help please provide simple step by step instructions as this is new to me.

Please try the "RunningSum" property of the textbox control.
Place a textbox whose control source is "=1" and its "RunningSum" is "over group" in the detail. This textbox will count how many details in group 4.
Use the above trick also in group4 header. You can get all your counts.
