Brought it back..

Everytime a use anyone logs in the WSS site, its prompts for domain\username and password. Is there anyway I can just have a user put in username and password instead of domain\username and password?

Also, once anyone logs into the site, they authenticate (Domain\USername + password). When they opening a document, it propmts to authenticate once again. Is there a way where i can just have a user authenticate once, Its kinda a hassle logging in like 20 times. Thanx

Hi,

You get this problem if the user logs in with a different account on their pc than they have in sharepoint. Have you created separate accounts for sharepoint?

Can't you use the users "regular" domainaccount?

Cheers,
Thomas

Hey Thomas,

When I create a user, it asks for e-mail address or domain\username. This is the information I put in. I want the user to be able to log in with just a username and password and not having to type in the domain name. Thanx

this can be configured through IIS , virtual server, properties, directroy security, authentication and access control.

if your server is a member server of a domain you can put up integrated windows authentication

The server is a member of the AD domain. In IIS I put integrated Windows Authentication. If Im in the AD network, is it still suppose to ask me for a username password?

add the url of your site to the trusted zones (local intranet zone) in your internet explorer security settings.

This should do the trick (stop asking for a username and use your windows authentication)

Yea that works...

but that means all users have to do the same? Thats a hassle for me run around configuring every users EI.. [sadeyes]

use a grouppolicy to deploy this (that's what AD is for [2thumbsup] )

Just migrated from NT to AD. Ill figure it out tho. Thanks buddy :p

Hi groupmates,

Before the patch was released, we used the syntax to pre-login our MS products such as SPS, some websites needing Windows Authentication.

However, this syntax is no longer valid. All such programs become dead. Microsoft KB 834489 suggested to use WinINET functions or Cookies. Nevertheless, WinINET cannot work in ASP while Cookies do not pass Login Dialog made by Windows Integrated Authentication.

Now I have to make a Login HTML page to replace the pop dialog for SPS. Might anyone suggest solutions to replace the syntax but work as the same exactly? Please help.

stanley, i suggest you investigate on basic authentication and the use of SSL for websites that need to accessed from "the outside" eg with an url like
on the internal lan you could use windows integrated auth.

in iis you can create different websites for this. Read the help file that comes with SPS2003 for more information on this.

Thanks for your reply, Bart.

But my problem is not on the authentication and IIS, but how to replace the pop-up dialog box by a login webpage. In the past, we hard-code to redirect to but now it cannot work.

So what should we do? It also affects other MS products using Authentication, no matter Basic or Windows Integrated.

i am aware of this issue but i can't give you a solution for this. i suggest you contact PSS or repost your question in the microsoft newsgroups.

i'm still asking myself why you want a login page instead of the popup request. Their functions are the same (authentication)

sorry

I m looking for SPS SSO service or Biztalk Enterprise Single Sign On service.

Hi everyone. I loaded WSS 2.0 but have to add users manually to the service. Can Sharepoint see active directory??

Thanks
