After solving yesterdays issue I have another question...

When I run my FOH terminal now I get a Database not Current Generation error, Run Database Upgrade. I have run the database upgrade (after unregistering services and rebooting) on both NEWDATA and DATA with the force upgrade option checked (as recommened in other posts). In the DEBOUT files in the manager my current database generation is '3' and my historical was also '3'. However when I run grindq.exe manually from the BOH I get the same error 'database generation', the difference being when I view the grindq DEBOUT it says Database Generation '1' does not match current generation '3'.

I have no transactions completed, and no .log files (This error happened when I finally got into my FOH Term and it reported 'exceeded fileserver iterations' so I did a 'regain fileserver' on the BOH and the next time I ran FOH I received the error). I have unregistered Aloha and deleted all files and re-installed fresh (both FOH and BOH) and still have the error on the terminal side. I ran into the same error over the weekend and was having other issues so I wiped the machines and did a fresh OS install and that fixed it, but there has to be a simpler solution - especially since I have run into the problem twice and I am sure I will again...

Do you see this problem on the BOH when you try to view reports of any kind? For example, when you choose TODAY?

Dont have any reports to view as this is a brand new installation, but I can open the reports and view empty tables. I do get a 'can't get min DOB' error. I checked the DEBOUT on the FOH and the error before the Database Generation fatal error is 'Checkversion Error - could not open DBF Version file'.

I went in to the VER.DBF file and edited it, making the Generation table entry a '1' instead of a '3' and that seemed to work momentarily, but I am not sure if that would be the correct solution.

Solved this one as well, in my Ver.DBF the software version .* did not match the database version for some reason...

Nope still not working -
Made a mistake, still have the error. Anyone know what generates it?

Typically the gerneration error will be from network or file persmission problems. If the FOH cannot OPEN the ver.dbf you will get this error.
One common cause of this is an XP or 2003 server that is set to not allow full access to logons with blank passwords and 95/98 terminals that have to have blank pass to auto-logon.
