Anotehr Exchange 2003 newbie question

Is there a way for an admin to view individual emails in users email boxes? Here's the deal, one of the users here sent an email to her manager complaining about the work habits of another, problem is, she cc'd the whole department also, including the complainee. The manager asked if there was a way I could get that email out of at least his box before he checked his email.

also you could sign in on his account by resetting the password after deleting the email reset password to force him to change it tell him some bull story about resetting wrong account and appoligise to him...

Just give yourself premission to view the mailbox and add the mailbox to your Outlook then delete the email.

Beware if you attempt that, you WILL be violating privacy laws!
Before messing with administrator rights, try the simple way.

Get you boss to be with you while you do this, and get approval in writing BEFORE you actually do it!

Change the password, go (with the Boss) to the PC of that user, log on and open Outlook, delete the message.

Exmerge the email out.

privacy laws are state specific at this point, and if you ever had the employee sign a computer usage policy that explains company monitoring etc... you have already done the necesary criteria for most states. Check your company policy and verify you can do this and then just add the mailbox to your admin accounts outlook profile and flush the email.

Thanks for all the tips. It's a little too late to do anything about this now, he saw the email on friday. I don't really know if anyone's said anything about it.
