Hi all,

We're using Sharepoint Services and have it set to allow users authenticated to the domain to have read-access to our sites. When connected to our domain via our Cisco VPN client, users are getting a prompt to enter their userid and password, yet when the same user is logged into the network locally, they are not getting any prompts.

What is causing the prompts? I'm assuming VPN is submitting the user information and authenticating it to the domain, but it doesn't seem like WSS is seeing this.

Any ideas?

Tom.

Hello,

We had the same kind of issues with one of our environments. What I did was to make sure that the users added the url for the sharepoint site into their Intranet Zone in the web browser, that solved the problem of being prompted for username and password when accessing the sites through a VPN Connection.

Don't know if the above will help you, but just thought I'd mention it.

Cheers,
Thomas

Tried that, Thomas and it didn't work. I think the problem might be that we have a range of IP addressess set up for incoming VPN connections. This range of IP addresses is different than the ones in the domain.

I'll have to do some experimenting to see if that could be the culprit.

Thanks.

Tom.
