Annoying problem with illustrator window

Hey all. This is by no means the worst thing in the world, but it is rather irritating. Basically, if i maximise the illustrator window and then double click on a file i want to open, it un-maximises (you know what i mean!). Is there any way to stop this?

...never come across this one before, however, you could try maximising the window, save the file in this size, which in general saves the window position in my experience too, close it, re-open, and then open another file...

...if this doesn't work, try resetting preferences, press and hold:

apple/control + alt/option + shift (whilst held down launch illustrator).
