I have a customer that has immediate call handling by AA. No problem. Now they want the Holiday Message, which a 3rd party recorded and installed as wav.file last year as a greeting on the AA. Here's the kicker, last year when the 3rd party took it off & rerecorded the greeting they stored as an announcement. Now my customer wants it back on as the greeting for the Holiday. I've tried taking another AA with the announcement assigning lines, bus schedule & can't get it to answer with announcement. If I record a prompt, then it will answer with the prompt. Is this at all possible what I need.

You're going to need to get that announcement over to the AA greeting. I had a client with a MMessaging that used to get wav files emailed to them from a professional service. We would play them on a stereo with the handset up to the speaker to get them onto the MMessaging.

Is it Merlin Messaging? If so, which release? There is a programming GUI that can upload and download announcements and auto attendant greetings.

Next time, have them put the greeting into auto attendant No. 2 and then just switch the lines over.

Thanks guys I appreciate your replies. It is merlin messaging rel 4.Yes I realized that normally if it was greeting for AA there is't a problem & that's what whoever did this for the cust last year did. But when they took it back off the 1st AA they should have just put it on the 3rd which was spare, instead of creating an announcement. In reading about AA it speaks of announcements for AA, is that just for sub menus?
Is the GUI something I can just tell the cust to download instead of me & is it easy to put a wav. file on the AA in MM rel 4, I have never done it. I know in IP Ofc VM Pro it's just click & drag to move from announcements to greetings. The play back to a phone would not to me seem professional, but it is an immediate work around & I do appreciate the suggestion.

You need to find the GUI on the Avaya support site, then load it on a computer. Use an Ethernet cross over cable and set your computer to the same subnet as the Merline Messaging, or connect to the Messaging through the serial port and change its IP address to match your existing network.

Once in, go to the AA, submenu, or announcement, click on the recording, and it will open up and play on the computer. From there you have options to save the recording, or upload a new recording in its place.

Thanks for the info I've got R4 loaded on my XP without being onsite can just test & see if this will give me access to what I want to do. When on site later today I need to get into a present announcement( which is the wave. file )& take it & put as the greeting for AA3, then I'll move the lines over. This is my game plan.

TouchToneTommy you said there is a programming GUI that can upload and download announcements and auto attendant greetings. Could you please tell me who has that GUI,is it Avaya. I'm going onsite tomorrow to do a direct connect with my pc to the Merlin Messaging thru ethernet port with Merlin Messaging 4.0 Admin. Once connected I will see what I can & cannot do. If I could download the software you are speaking of in advance it would make life a lot easier.

This is what MerlinMan has recommended to do:
Once you get that working, you will have to come up with some way to download the MAIN AA Greeting as a WAV and the ANNOUNCEMENT as a WAV and then merge the two together. (I think there's some software out there that can help with that).
This cust request has been challenging to say the least. So hopefully between the 3 of us we can get this done.

Again I appreciate all your input.

Have you already downloaded the MERLIN Messaging 4.0 System Administration Application from Avaya? If not, you can find it here

Once you have installed that, you need to be connected to the Merlin Messaging to run it. Set your PC to 10.0.0.40 and the MMsg is at 10.0.0.42.

The software will connect, allow you to graphically view the auto attendants, and will have a button to click on for the recording in each AA, submenu, and announcement. Once you click on the button, it will download the file to your computer to be played, at this point you can save it to your PC or upload a different wav file to replace it on the messaging.

So the thought occurred to me - maybe they recorded this announcement as the temporary closure greeting that plays before the regular night service greeting? If that's the case, it's still there are you can tell the system to play it by scheduling the temporary closure.

If the custom recording is stored somewhere else in the system, once you have downloaded them to your pc, you can use Audacity (freeware download) to splice the wav's together to make one and upload.

Before you start, I would do a backup to the PC card in the Messaging, option 8 from the programming menu.
