Announcement Extension capacity on G3si

I'm administering a G3si Switch which has a capacity of 128 announcement extensions. Is there any way to increase the number of extensions on this platform? if not is there external equipment that be used instead and how is this utilised with vectors?

Unfortunately, the only way to get more announcements is to go to an R. Then you can jump to 1000 or even 3000, depending on the equipment you have.

I'd be interested to know if there is any equipment out there to work around that...

our reseller said that it was possible to upgrade to the new hardware platform without upgrading our software release.. thereby getting around the announcement (128) and vdn (512) limitations of the g3si without having to go to an R. looked alot cheaper too.

R's are already out of date. You can upgrade to S8700 MultiVantage 1.3.1 Release 11 for under 60K.

When they said you could migrate without updating the software, what release was the switch already at???

Yeah, never heard that one. And why would you want to. Avaya gives huge price breaks during upgrades.

You can use Audix (either slim or intuity) as announcement extension; never done it myself before so not 100% sure as to how it's done exactly, just know that you can.
