Announcement (AA) when user is on the phone

Can anyone figure out a way to do this. I have worked on this for a couple of hours and not found a solution. I know this is a long shot, but it is hard to tell your city manager that the new phone system you spent almost 100k for will NOT do what he wants to do!

He wants the phone system to give a greeting when he is on the phone. There is a Call Forward setting for this, but its only when ALL system apperances are busy. By default we use 3 system apperances on everyones phone. I cannot take him down to 1 system apperance (which would work) because with just one system apperance he cannot transfer a call. I also cannot use a bridged extension on another phone because it also requires at least one system apperance in addition to the bridged apperance.

Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated.

what exactly do you want to do? What does the greeting need to say / do?

The city manager wants the phone to indicate when he is on the other line. He would like it to give them a message similar to "I am in the office today but currently on another line". And then allow them the option to reach an attendant, or leave a voicemail. If he is not on the other line, he would like the phone to do the standard, ring 3 times and then voicemail.

OK. So you need to go to users/select the user/settings/NBX Voicemail settings/personal operator/.

Here you can enter the transfer destinations when someone presses a 0 or a 9 when listening to his message. So he can have for example the reception extension or group when they press 0 or his mobile number when they press 9 etc.

Then you select call forward on the left hand side and select the forward to voicemail radio button, and above that select after how many rings it goes to voicemail.

Get the Boss to record his message including the press 0 for reception.

Call forwarding on voicemail. Done.
